Darkthrone es una banda noruega de black metal fundada en 1987 por el baterísta Gylve Nagell (Fenriz), los guitarrristas Ivar Enger (Zephyrous) y Anders Risberget y el bajista Dag Nilsen en Kolbotn, Noruega. En 1989 llegó el vocalista Ted Skjellum (Nocturno Culto) que continúa en la actualidad junto a Fenriz. Son ampliamente conocidos por ser uno de los principales precursores del black metal noruego a finales de la década de los '80 y principios de la década de los '90. Además del repertorio clásico de la banda se grabaron cuatro nuevas canciones, "Life Is Too Short", "Back To You", "I Wanted To Cry" y "When Love Kills Love" siendo este último el sencillo promocional del álbum. También fueron interpretadas algunas canciones famosas de bandas de los ochenta, como "Drive" de The Cars, "Dust In The Wind" de Kansas y "Love Of My Life" de Queen.Todos los arreglos fueron llevados a cabo por la banda en conjunto al director de orquesta Christian Kolonovits, con quién ya habían trabajado en el disco anterior "Moment Of Glory". Dentro de estas mismas destacan los arreglos realizados a la canción "Still Loving You", en la que se incluye una intro de cello, tocados por la rumana Ariana Arcu. Además el solo de batería y percusión en la canción "Rhythm Of Love", interpretados por James Kottak y el chileno Mario Argandoña respectivamente, los arreglos de funk en los coros de la canción "Holiday" o el arreglo de guitarras acústicas en la canción "Hurricane 2001" una versión de "Rock You Like A Hurricane", entre otros.El disco además de ser lanzado en formato CD fue lanzado en formato DVD a través de Warner Music también el 5 de Junio de 2001.
