Producido por Greig Nori y mezclado por Andy Wallace y Tom Lord-Alge, Chuck ve la progresión natural del pop-punk de Sum 41. La historia de Chuck viene de un viaje que la banda hizo a la República Democrática del Congo. Viajaron hasta allí con el motivo de rodar un documental con War Child Canadá sobre el impacto de la guerra civil en el Congo. El grupo llegó al país durante una tregua pero, nada más llegar, se vieron rodeados de tiroteos y explosiones. La guerra continuaba y Sum 41 se vieron obligados a esconderse en los lavabos de un hotel. Un funcionario de la ONU llamado Chuck Pelletier hizo un plan de evacuación. Llevó a la banda al lobby del hotel y les hizo salir corriendo en mitad de un tiroteo hasta llegar a un tanque que les sacó de allí. Esa es la génesis del título Chuck. Un homenaje al empleado de la ONU que salvó la vida a Sum 41. El primer single, We're All To Blame.
