Este disco, a diferencia del Reign in Blood, presenta una nueva variante en Slayer: temas lentos. Eso se puede apreciar en canciones como "South of Heaven", "Live Undead" o "Spill the Blood". Sin embargo, también hay canciones rápidas como "Silent Scream", "Ghosts of War" o "Cleanse the Soul". No le crean a la gente que dice que este disco es malo, porque no lo es.
