The six-fingered man had a huge, gleaming white smile. But only he smiled when he was on stage with his guitar and slide. The man with six fingers smelled moonshine, wearing a 32 waist, wearing outlandish shirts for the day, and never his hat pulled well Chicago. He played the blues with passion. Quick and penetrating as few as himself.
The man with six fingers never became a star and had no radio hits. For over 30 years he played with his band in Chicago bars and at parties where everyone knew him and he knew them all. The man with six fingers had, perhaps, one of the first power trio in history and wrote memorable songs ... but fame (although more than fame, recognition) came when he was already dead.
