The documentary was produced with John Battsek by Trujillo and management has been in charge of Stephen Kijak and Paul Marchand. In an interview with USA Today Trujillo explained: "Jaco was my hero. It was like when you hear hear for the first time Eddie Van Halen playing 'Eruption'. Want to know who touched that and what instrument is. I love all the fusions of jazz, but Jaco exceeded the limit as a simple jazz musician. He represented funk, rock, had much feeling in his playing style and his attitude could be summed up as punk ". Pastorius died in Fort Lauderdale (Florida) in 1987 after a confrontation in a bar when he was only 35 years old. Trujillo said they have known only once and that because of his bipolar disorder, ever expected to help, but then realized that Pastorius not want to be "rescued".
