La historia explora el origen de Dracula, mezcla de vampirismo y la historia real del Príncipe Vlad El Empalador - quien inspiró al Drácula de Bram Stoker -, retratándolo como un héroe en una trágica historia de amor en una oscura época de magia y guerra. En la película veremos como Vlad es un hombre que lucha por su pueblo y su familia, lo que le lleva a hacer un pacto oscuro para garantizar su protección. Este pacto le pone de camino a lo sobrenatural hasta convertirse en el móstruo legendario que todos conocemos.
