The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, por nombrar los más conocidos, incluyeron instrumentos o estilos similares al de Bach, en un estilo que se llamó barorock(barroco+rock). Sin embargo, grupos no tan conocidos como los Swingle Singers, tomaron la música de Bach y la llevaron al jazz. Este grupo, formado por Ward Swingle en 1962 en París, destacaba por cantar principalmente a capella, y en algunas ocasiones incluir batería o bajo. Su fama los llevó a participar en distintas bandas sonoras de fines de los '60, como Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, con su típico estilo "lala-lala-lalarala-lalala". En 1973 el grupo de disolvió, pero Swingle formó otro con otros miembros en Londres, como Swingle II. Posteriormente se llamaron The Swingles, The New Swingle Singers para luego llamarse simplemente Swingle Singers, nombre que mantienen en la actualidad.
