Joe Satriani's latest live record, the unimaginatively titled Satriani LIVE!, is rather good live release spanning over 4 hours of material. All of Satriani's classics have been included to the setlist along with few songs taken from his latest album Super Colossal. In addition, some additional footage have been included, which almost doubles the length of this release. The musicianship on this record is naturally top-notch, and one especially has to commend Dave LaRue "the new guy on bass" for picking up the songs quite quickly. The production is really good regarding the sounds, and the picture quality isn't too shabby eiher - the concert was shot with high definition cameras. Unfortunately, the direction of the concert is lacking at times. Mainly the camera angles are what leave the listener wishing for a bit more. Also it's worth noting that a lot of the classics are starting to take too much room from the setlist - it's a shame some great songs out of Engines of Creation, Crystal Planet, and Strange Beautiful Music don't get played that much.
