A medida que la serie avanza se torna más confusa y psicológica, en donde el desarrollo de los personajes y sus personalidades (miedos, deseos) es fundamental.2 El anime cuenta con 26 episodios producidos en 1995 por el estudio GAINAX, bajo la dirección de Hideaki Anno.
