Tras ser derrotado por Goku en una dura batalla en el planeta Neo Vegeta, Broly logra escapar en una cápsula espacial (que nadie sabe de donde sale) y llega a la Tierra. Allí queda congelado en un lago durante 7 años. Mientras, Videl, Goten, y Trunks reúnen las bolas de dragon (al parecer por pura diversión...). Llegan a un extraño pueblo amenazado por la presencia de un monstruo. Los sollozos de Goten (muy parecidos a los de Goku de niño)despiertan a Broly y comienza una batalla.
