Esta procede de una isla misteriosa situada en un lugar donde no debería haber una isla. Es un paraje con extrañas formas de vida, montañas de oro, mortíferos volcanes y más de un asombroso secreto. Incapaz de impedir que realice el viaje, el nuevo padrastro de Sean, Hank (Dwayne Johnson) decide unirse a él. Junto a un piloto de helicóptero (Luis Guzmán) y su bella y voluntariosa hija (Vanessa Hudgens), emprenden esta nueva aventura en búsqueda de la isla para rescatar a su único habitante y escapar antes que un tsunami la inunde y entierre sus tesoros para siempre.
