Sinopsis

 

Narra la fascinante vida de Waris Dirie, en su viaje de hija de nómadas africanos a top model

internacional y embajadora especial de las Naciones Unidas en África. Cuando, a la edad de 13 años,

Waris se entera de que su padre tiene intención de casarla como cuarta esposa con un hombre mayor,

se da cuenta de que no tiene más remedio que huir. Encuentra trabajo como sirvienta con unos

parientes lejanos en la embajada somalí de Londres. Años más tarde, al estallar la guerra civil en

Somalia y cerrarse la embajada, Waris, ya mujer, se encuentra ante la amenaza de ser deportada y de

nuevo decide huir... El relato de la vida de Waris Dirie no sólo es una moderna Cenicienta, sino la

historia de cómo una joven y valiente africana emigra a Europa y lucha para erradicar uno de los más

crueles y atroces rituales, la ablación o mutilación genital femenina.
