En un futuro no muy lejano el boxeo es robótico: ya no combaten seres humanos entre sí, sino robots humanoides, sofisticadas máquinas diseñadas para luchar. Charlie Kenton es un antiguo púgil cuya carrera casi conoció la gloria, pero ahora está en horas bajas como promotor de combates.
