Filmada en los años 2007 y 2008, PLANETA VIVO reúne de nuevo a la BBC y a Discovery Channel, coproductores de “Planeta Tierra”, la serie de historia natural más laureada del mundo de la televisión.
Cada episodio de PLANETA VIVO se enfoca en un evento natural determinado: el deshielo de verano en el Ártico; el regreso de los salmones del Pacífico a los ríos de Canadá; la inundación del Delta del Okavango en África; la floración anual de plancton en el norte del Océano Pacífico; la emigración masiva hacia las llanuras del Serengueti en el este de África; y uno de los espectáculos marinos más fascinantes del planeta: la emigración de la sardina en Sudáfrica. La serie destaca la increíble transformación de estos diversos paisajes, así como las más dramáticas confrontaciones de la fauna salvaje jamás registradas para la televisión.
Para sumergir a los televidentes en detalles y perspectivas nunca antes vistas, PLANETA VIVO utiliza técnicas de filmación innovadoras, así como sorprendentes tecnologías usadas por la aclamada serie “Planeta Tierra”. Los cineastas emplearon técnicas fotográficas como “time lapse” y macrofotografía en la tierra, en el aire y debajo del agua. También, por primera vez en un programa de historia natural, se usaron bases estabilizadoras en las cámaras de alta definición que permitieron lograr una definición nunca antes vista en la fotografía capturada desde aviones ultraligeros, helicópteros y botes. En condiciones climáticas extremas, la filmación de PLANETA VIVO fue todo un reto, y el mayor desafío fue estar en el lugar correcto y en el momento preciso para capturar la magia en acción. En muchos casos, los equipos se vieron obligados a vivir en zonas remotas durante dos meses, simplemente esperando por el plano perfecto.
