Historia de la Serie :

 

La historia comienza con una joven, llamada Lucy, escapando de unas instalaciones de investigación en una isla cercana a la costa de Kamakura en la prefectura de Kanagawa, Japón. Desarmada y desnuda, a excepción de un casco de metal que oculta sus rasgos, consigue salir del recinto tras desmembrar y asesinar a varios guardias y empleados utilizando una especie de poderes sobrenaturales. Momentos antes de escapar, un francotirador le dispara a la cabeza con un rifle antitanque de calibre 50, provocándole una herida leve al partir el casco y descubriendo dos protuberancias óseas, como pequeños cuernos, saliendo de su cabeza; tras esto, la joven se despeña inconsciente por un acantilado y cae al mar.
