SINOPSIS:

En el distante planeta Lithone vive una raza de robots inteligentes en que viven paz y tranquilidad. Sus actividades diarias se interrumpen un día, cuando un planeta de metal gigante con cuernos y boca aparece en el cielo. Cuando se acerca, una emisión de fuego sale de él, destruyendo la superficie del planeta. Son destruidas ciudades enteras y son comidas por el gigante objeto. Los dos grandes cuernos del "planeta monstruo" actúan como dientes para llevar a Lithone a su sistema digestivo.

Dando testimonio de esta catástrofe apocalíptica de la superficie de Lithone son Kranix y su amigo Orbulus. Ellos saben lo que el monstruo es: él es un robot omnipotente que es conocido como "Unicron". Comprendiendo que su única esperanza es evacuar el planeta, ellos se apresuran a su shuttlecraft. Cuando Lithone es destruido en billones de pedazos más pequeños, sus transbordadores intentan escapar de la atracción del poderoso Unicron. El trasbordador de Kranix logra escapar, es la única evidencia que puede decir que pasó con el planeta Lithone.

Entretanto, en el año 2005, otra raza de robots con un estilo de vida bastante diferente: uno de guerra civil eterna. Un grupo llamado los Decepticons han expulsado a sus enemigos, los Autobots, fuera de su planeta hogar Cybertron. Optimus Prime, el líder de los Autobots, planea reconquistar su planeta hogar preparando bases estratégicas en las dos lunas de Cybertron. Para contraatacar, él espera la llegada de más energon a pesar de la avidez de sus tropas (su combustible básico) desde un trasbordador que viene de la Tierra. Poco se sabe de él, sin embargo, los Decepticons ya han atacado el trasbordador y han planeado usarlo para atacar la fortaleza de Autobots en la Tierra, la Ciudad Autobot, burlando sus sistemas de defensa.
