En el viaje ira acompañado por Poon, su novia, y Sujitto, un joven monje novicio que cuida de la casa de Tripitaka y es responsable de alejar el mal karma mediante el canto. Los tres personajes tienen diferentes propósitos para hacer este viaje, pero más tarde descubren que fueron reunidos por una razón imprevisible. Un karma cometido por una persona podría relacionarse con el karma de los demás.
